New Patterns Inspired by Disney’s ‘Fantasia’
By JULIE SCELFO
The Walt Disney Signature brand now includes upscale wallpapers inspired by paintings used to create the 1940 film “Fantasia.”
A team from York Wallcoverings, the Pennsylvania-based company manufacturing the wallpaper, had access to the original artwork and chose images that designers worked with to create modern interpretations.
“Your average consumer is not going to want to put fairies on the wall,” said Gina Shaw, the vice president of product development at York Wallcoverings. “But the movement and delicacy of the fairy wings in the original artwork, for example, led us to create a glass-bead stripe with the same kind of delicacy and shimmer.”
The collection includes 12 designs, in a variety of colors, starting at $59 a roll. Information: (717) 846-4456, yorkwall.com.
